Meet the Team
JAY SHERIDAN, President
Over the course of his career, Jay’s work has focused on everything from front-page policy issues and political campaigns to marketing and public engagement initiatives across the spectrum: hospitality and restaurants, non-profits, tourism, real estate development, wildlife conservation and more. He’s built a winning track record through effective grassroots organization, unorthodox strategies for inspiring target audiences and shaping public opinion, and leveraging the power of the written word. He’s also authored a dozen books and hundreds of magazine stories, locally and nationally, on interesting people and places.
Sheridan PR has been recognized by the Public Relations Society of America for media placement and public affairs, and by the Nashville Business Journal as one of the area’s Best Places to Work. Jay was also named to the NBJ's 40 Under 40 list of rising professionals in 2015.
Prior to starting Sheridan PR in 2009, he was an account supervisor with McNeely Pigott & Fox Public Relations in Nashville and director of communications at Spheris, an international healthcare technology company.
Over the years, Jay has served as a volunteer and board member for a number of non-profit organizations, recently completing a term as president of Friends of Franklin Parks and joining the Battle of Franklin Trust’s board of directors. He was appointed by Franklin Mayor Ken Moore to the City's Historic Zoning Commission and Battlefield Preservation Commission—the latter of which he chaired for two years—and was co-chair of Franklin's Sesquicentennial Committee, dedicated to commemorating the year 2014 as the 150th anniversary of one of the bloodiest battles of the American Civil War.
In 2023, Sheridan authored the coffee table book Along the Harpeth: Historic Franklin, in honor of the 225th anniversary of Franklin and Williamson County, and he is currently working on a book on the historic Natchez Trace in advance of America’s 250th.
He holds a bachelor of arts degree in news and editorial journalism from the University of Mississippi.
